The Magic Fairy Princess Shows

On Friday on the bus home from school, Amber declared that it was time to visit Prague again. So we booked bus tickets and planned an outing on the Sunday. I had seen a big toy shop near my head office in the centre, so persuaded Colin to have a kids day buying toys.

We trawled the 3 floors in search of toys - some good healthy brain food toys. We actually did remarkably well with puzzles and books being in high demand by the babies. On the last floor we discovered the costume section. Now, one thing I must explain, is that the babies have been fed all kinds of halloween propoganda at the school and have great expectations for this amazing halloween thing when you go out at night and eveyone has fancy costumes and there are witches and bats flying around (and of course trick-or-treating to be had)... So, Colin saw these wonderful halloween masks with scary faces and fancy hats and suggested that the girls buy halloween masks. The problem being that the ugly masks were right next to the most beautiful, fairy and princess costumes. Ummmm, now which one would you pick? Well, Colin had no contest and was very dismayed that we walked out with fairy dresses instead....

So, we get home and the fairies came out to play. I had to be the audience and then I was sung to; danced around; magic showed; abracadabrad and generally all-fairy-showed-out! (Including my memory card on the camera).

For the whole of the next week, the costumes went to school (for halloween week) and they were princesses by day; and fairies by night.

GeoMag has landed

Colin won his first auction purchase on ebay the other day - something like a 700 piece geomag set. I could not quite understand it (as normally is the case when Colin buys some crazy new toy ... like the digital camera... media centre...).

It arrived and Colin became geomag crazed while I kinda watched on the sidelines shaking my head in amazement at the addiction onset. And then I tried it! And I became the next geomag holic (just like was the case with the digital camera ... media centre ...).

In fact, the whole family has become geomaggots as the baby woods also end up pushing the bedtime limits while some small marvel of creation is busy being modeled.

I am sure you get the picture ;-)....
Oops, 1 more!

The Magic Flute

Our week-end "date" was absolutely deeviine!

Teacher Hanka collected the girls just before 11:00 on Saturday morning and we then ran to collect the 11 o'clock bus to Prague. In Prague, we popped into the metropole shopping centre where I had been eyeing some new boots and with new purchase in hand (or actually by that stage "on-foot") we caught the underground to the centre of Prague where our hotel was. We checked in just around 2pm, settled into our room and then crashed! (ok, so we didn't sleep immediately ;-)...)

We got up in time to don our opera best with time to walk to the restaurant at the theatre where we had a 5pm reservation. The restaurant had been recommended to us by a colleague and boy was it a treat! Very Larny... and great to be there alone. We felt very spoiled as we ate sushi and decor-type cuisine in very romantic settings.
We left with the 10 minutes needed to walk around to the front of the opera and to find our seats. Due to the last-minute of the reservations, we only could book second row seats in a box. But we were upgraded by default when after 10 minutes into the performance we realised that the 2 immediately in front of us were not going to pitch and so we re-arranged ourselves into the front row position.

The opera house was a real experience! It is all glitz and glamour - but of an ancient 18th century kind of way. The photos below don't really show off the theatre, but it will at least give you a tit-bit until you decide to come and see for yourselves :-)On Sunday morning, we woke up late enough to still make breakfast and then checked out without any agenda in mind. We planned to meet some of my colleagues in a sports bar in Prague to watch SA play Fiji, so we headed to Wenceslas Square with our books and browsed; drank coffee; read books; people watched and then had McDonalds before heading for the game. As the game finished we ran out to catch the underground in time to get the 5.30pm bus home from Prague and be home before Teacher Hanka arrived with the girls.

*Sigh* We will definitely have to do that again...

Blogging at last!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of bloggage for the last month - eeek - I can't believe how quickly that went by...

Ok. So we are eventually getting our A(rse) into G(ear), so standby for mass blogging updates ...

(p.s. don't be fooled by the "post time and date" - I am backdating to keep some sense of sequence and timeline)

The Woods @ Home

Hello!

Anyone want a quick tour of what we get up to when we are not travelling?

Well, when we are not herding the girls through supper time; shower time and bed time, then it is normally something like this...

Amber and Sarah playing with their train set, hampsters or watching DVDs and Mom & Dad reading (or working):

On the week-ends we try to get in some outdoors activities - riding bikes; roller skating and this last week-end Dad took them out flying kites:

And when all is said and done, the favourite is still boogying down on the dancefloor to some hip-twisting-bum-wagging-head-shaking tunes:

Adios!
